It looks like I'm going to be getting a lot less sleep. Things are going well with the banjo. I spend pa

rt of my practice time working on Scruggs (three finger style) and then switch to Clawhammer (frailing style). My father-in-law has been a great influence on my musically. Because of him I went out and bought a low end mandolin.
I spent time with him today learning the basics and I picked up a great DVD from
Murphy Henry on beginner mandolin. I hope to progress through it quickly and get to intermediate mandolin and learn great songs like Sally Goodin.
I'm finding that I'm able to take what I learn on one stringed instrument and port it over to others. Many of the techniques from guitar (slides, hammer-ons, pull-offs, etc) moved painlessly over to the banjo. I'm looking forward to a long winter when I can get up in the morning, sit with a hot cup of coffee and work on my music.
