Blathering on about my TomTom

posted Monday, 3 September 2007

Since I haven't been writing for so long I plan to write about what has been going on since my last real post a couple of months ago.

My birthday was really special.  The wife and daughter went overboard buying me the TomTom and I couldn't wait to try it out.  As soon as we got to the parking lot I pulled it out of the box and answering a couple of quick questions it was up and running.  The wife asked where I wanted to eat and I said Max's Deli.  I haven't been there in at least six years and remember good times with friends and great food.

I pushed the navigate to button and then point of interest and then restaurant.   It asked what city, I told it and a second later it showed all of the restaurants in Rocky River.  I clicked on Max's Deli and a second later it had the directions.  I would never have found it on my own.  We got there in record time only to find that they are in the process of moving.  It worked out because next to the now empty Max's Deli was a fascinating store that sold hand crafted jewelry, pottery, weavings, and musical instruments.  As their website says, "Ten Thousand Villages provides vital, fair income to Third World people by marketing their handicrafts and telling their stories in North America."

I had a hard time dragging the wife and daughter out of there.  We got back in the car and asked TomTom how to get to Red Robin for a burger and it got us there in minutes. The food was great and the wife let them know it was my birthday and they sang me their Red Robin birthday song.  It was a very nice time.
